Ampthill vs Cancer Becomes a Registered Charity
25 March 2026
What began as a one-off community event has grown into something far bigger, powered by local people coming together to support those affected by cancer. Becoming a registered charity is an important step in that journey.
This new status will allow Ampthill vs Cancer to build on its work in a more structured and sustainable way, ensuring that funds raised are managed transparently, responsibly and with clear purpose. It also enables access to additional funding opportunities, including Gift Aid, helping to increase the impact of every pound raised.
As a registered charity, Ampthill vs Cancer is now regulated by the Charity Commission, reinforcing its commitment to accountability and ensuring that all funds are used to deliver meaningful support to people and families affected by cancer.
Looking ahead, the charity will continue to support local organisations while also developing its own initiatives, including early detection programmes and wellbeing support for those living with and beyond cancer.
“This is a significant moment for Ampthill vs Cancer,” said the charity trustees. “What started as a small idea has become a community movement. Becoming a registered charity allows us to build on that in the right way, ensuring we can continue to make a real difference, both now and in the future.”
The team remains entirely volunteer-led, supported by the generosity of the community, local businesses and partners who have been part of the journey from the very beginning.
Ampthill vs Cancer would like to thank everyone who has supported the initiative so far – this milestone would not have been possible without you.
