Dave Bateson Wins Charity Award at the RailStaff Awards 2025
19 December 2025
This award recognises individuals within the rail industry who have made a significant contribution to charitable causes through fundraising, volunteering, and community support. For anyone who knows Dave, this achievement comes as no surprise.
With over three decades in the rail industry, Dave has turned personal adversity, being diagnosed with Stage 4 Melanoma in 2019, into an inspiring force for good. Alongside raising awareness of sun safety, wellbeing, and resilience across Network Rail, Dave has dedicated countless hours to fundraising and to building Ampthill vs Cancer into a community movement that not only raises money for charities supporting those affected by cancer, but also develops local initiatives designed to support individuals and families within the community who are navigating cancer themselves.
Winning the Charity Award is a testament not only to Dave’s fundraising achievements, but also to the kindness, compassion, and determination at the heart of everything he does.
From everyone at Ampthill vs Cancer: “Congratulations, Dave, we are incredibly proud of you!”
