Community Chooses MOVE Against Cancer as our Charity Partner for 2026

19 January 2026

Ampthill vs Cancer is proud to announce that MOVE Against Cancer has been chosen by the community as its second charity partner for 2026, following a public vote launched at the Ampthill Christmas Lights Switch On. The result reflects the incredible engagement of residents across Ampthill and the surrounding villages, who came together to help shape where fundraising will be directed next year.

MOVE Against Cancer will join Keech Hospice Care as Ampthill vs Cancer’s two charity partners for 2026, alongside the organisation’s Community Fund, which is set to support people locally who are affected by cancer.

This announcement builds on the hugely successful 2025, during which more than £25,000 was raised, meaning over £8,000 was donated to each of the three charities supported last year. That incredible generosity has helped make a real difference to people and families impacted by cancer across our region.

MOVE Against Cancer exists to inspire, support and empower people impacted by cancer to live active, fulfilling lives. Through initiatives such as 5K Your Way community groups and their Online Programme for young people, the charity helps people with cancer and their families stay connected, active and supported, both physically and emotionally.

Sophie Mulligan, Fundraising Manager at MOVE Against Cancer said: “We are delighted to be the charity of choice for Ampthill vs Cancer this year. We have been supporting those impacted by cancer for several years now through both our 5k Your Way support groups and our Online Programme for young people. The support from this event will enable us to reach more people with cancer across the local area and ensure that they have the support and resources needed to live an active, fulfilling life.”

The community vote was created to ensure local people had a direct say in where funds raised in 2026 will go, building on Ampthill vs Cancer’s commitment to transparency, inclusion and community-led decision making. The response has been overwhelming, with hundreds of people casting their votes to help choose a cause that matters to them.

With Keech Hospice Care and MOVE Against Cancer now confirmed as the two charity partners for 2026, Ampthill vs Cancer looks forward to another year of fundraising that will support compassionate care, active recovery and meaningful support for those affected by cancer across the region.
